Ecologists employ the phrase when appealing against environmental degradation; sociologists speak of it when evaluating a society. The term also denotes how well people cope and is commonly used in therapeutic professions. Medical doctors refer to the quality of life as the restored ability to work and love, while in the psychological discourse, the term refers to mental propensities, such as realism and vitality.
