Direction: Read the following passage and answer the question given below
Nowadays, it has become fashionable for college students to go to their academic institution on motorbikes. They ride very fast, overtaking heavy vehicles, neglecting the road bumps, and consider themselves heroes just like in the movies. Today, our industries and transportation depend heavily upon petroleum products, which are non-renewable. The facts and figures show us that petroleum products are fast depleting. So there is a need to conserve them.
As students, what is our role in conserving the sources of energy? Students should learn the ways of conserving these sources and create awareness among the people at the same time. They should set examples themselves by conserving energy. One way to do this is by traveling to and from schools/colleges either on foot or by bicycle instead of using fuel burning vehicles. They may urge their parents to minimize the use of cars for traveling and instead use the public transport system for the same because cars consume more petrol comparatively.
Students should use fans and lights at home, only when they are absolutely essential. They should urge school and college authorities to ban the use of motorbikes on school and college premises. Isn’t it time we did this to conserve energy sources? For, it is in the hands of the youth to begin this project.
