This poet was of the Auden generation and was only briefly a member of the Communist party. In his poem, "The Pylons", he averred that the Pylons are "Bare like nude giant girls that have no secrets". This prompted the label, Pylon Poets, for the new generation of poets who were happy to use the gas works or pistons of a steam-engine as poetic imagery. (Name this poet.)
