Statement I: The farmers have decided against selling their kharif crops to the Government authorities. Kharif crops, monsoon crops or autumn crops are domesticated crops like rice that are cultivated and harvested in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh during the Indian subcontinent's monsoon season, which lasts from June to November depending on the area.
Statement II: The Government has reduced the procurement price of kharif crops starting from last month to the next four months. Procurement price of a commodity refers to the price at which govt. procures the commodity from producers/manufactures for maintaining the buffer stock or the public distribution system. These prices are announced by the govt. of India on the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices before the harvest season of the crop.
