Comprehension Passage

Read the passage and answer the questions that follow:

Imagine a world where talking to someone far away meant writing a letter, and finding information meant looking through heavy books for hours. This was life before computers became common! Computers, as we know them today, are actually quite new in our everyday lives. In the beginning, computers were huge machines, bigger than a whole room! They were mostly used by scientists and big companies for very complex calculations, like figuring out rocket paths or managing huge amounts of data. Normal people didn't have them at home. It took a lot of time and effort for these giant machines to become smaller and more affordable. Then came the personal computer (PC) in the 1980s. These were still big boxes with a screen, but they could fit on a desk. People started using them for basic tasks like typing documents (no more typewriters!), playing simple games, and managing personal lists. It was exciting, but still not everyone had one. The real game-changer was the internet. When computers connected to this worldwide network, suddenly you could send emails, browse websites for information, and chat with people across the globe. This was a huge leap! As we moved into the 2000s, computers kept getting smaller and smarter. Laptops became popular, allowing people to work or study from anywhere. Then came smartphones and tablets. These are powerful computers that fit right into our pockets! Now, almost everyone has a tiny computer with them all the time. Today, computers are everywhere. We use them for learning in school, shopping online, watching movies, listening to music, talking to friends and family, and even for controlling smart homes. They help us navigate with maps, manage our money, and stay updated with news. Many jobs now rely heavily on computers, from graphic designers to office workers. They've changed how we learn, work, play, and connect with the world. It’s hard to imagine a day without them!
