Whether you are a boss, And spouse or a parent, you should not go out of your way to criticize others. Most of the criticism we give to others is unnecessary. Some can be extremely hurtful and create bigger problems than they solve. We should be quick to receive criticism and very slow and thoughtful in giving it. Solomon warns us that we have the power to wound or break a person's spirit with our criticism. It can literally change the course of their lives. In Proverbs 18:14 Solomon says, "The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit who can bear? In other words, a man or woman can usually find the strength to deal with a physical injury or illness but Solomon says that a wounded spirit can be truly unbearable.

This being said, constructive criticism is a very important and necessary part of life, Even though it should be offered sparingly, it should be given whenever it is truly needed. But there are hundreds of ways to wrongly criticise someone, and only one way to criticize correctly. First we should not criticize when we are angry. Remember that only valid purpose for criticizing anyone is to bring about a positive change. So if you are angry, take a time-out and wait.
