The food safety and standards Act, 2006 defines Food safety as

Assurance the food is acceptable for human consumption according to its intended use.

A biological, chemical or physical agent in, or condition of, food with the potential to cause an adverse health effect.

comprises conditions and measures necessary for the production, processing, storage, and distribution of food designed to ensure a safe, sound, wholesome product fit for human consumption.

The action taken by the FBO to withdraw any food from market which is not complying Section 28 of FSS Act, 2006
