Prandtl Pitot tube was used to measure the velocity of a fluid of specific gravity S1. The differential manometer, with a fluid of specific gravity S2 connected to the Pitot tube recorded a level difference as ‘h’ as shown in figure below.
The velocity V is given by the expression
1
\(\sqrt {2gh\left( {\frac{{{S_1}}}{{{S_2}}} - 1} \right)} \)
2
\(\sqrt {2gh\left( {\frac{{{S_2}}}{{{S_1}}} - 1} \right)} \)
3
\(\sqrt {2gh\left( {{S_1} - {S_2}} \right)} \)
4
\(\sqrt {2gh\left( {{S_2} - {S_1}} \right)} \)
