Comprehension Passage
Read the passage and answer the question that follows by choosing the most appropriate option:
Globalisation means an integration of the economy of the country with the world economy. It involves an increased level of interaction and interdependence among various peoples as well as countries. In globalisation, there is free exchange of products, ideas, culture, manpower and other resources. It brings people together and helps them make the best use of one another's strengths.
Nationalism is often thought of as identification with one's own nation and support for its interests, particularly to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations. It means protection of the interests of the local people and local industries by reducing the engagement of the individuals and businesses with the rest of the world. Nationalism often leads to protectionist measures by the government by imposing high tariff on foreign goods and services.
However, the world today is highly integrated and international trade plays an extremely important role in the growth of an economy. Therefore,
Nationalism and Globalisation must exist together as they are like two wheels of a bicycle. Both have to move together in perfect balance.
The time has come to integrate the best of Nationalism and Globalisation to create a new world where the interests of all sections of the society are protected and sustainable development for all is ensured.
