Comprehension Passage
In the field of astrophysics, the study of black holes is of particular interest. Black holes are regions of space where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. This extreme gravitational pull is due to a concentration of mass in a very small space. The escape velocity – the minimum speed needed for an object to escape the gravitational pull – exceeds the speed of light. Hence, it becomes impossible for anything to escape once it crosses the event horizon, the boundary marking the point of no return.

How does an object escape a gravitational field?

1
By increasing its mass.
2
By achieving the escape velocity.
3
By decreasing its speed.
4
By crossing the event horizon
