For instance, similar to the role of intermolecular forces in liquids, gravitational forces play a key role in the shaping of the universe, pulling matter together to form galaxies, stars, and planets. The Solar System, which includes our planet Earth, is a small part of one such galaxy, the Milky Way. It originated around 4.6 billion years ago, with our Sun's formation from the gravitational collapse of a region within a large molecular cloud.
