Comprehension Passage

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time can break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these elephants just stood there and made no attempt to getaway. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Or maybe we just thought we can’t do it? Letting go and breaking free is always as hard as humans because we always feel attached to what we used to have or what we used to do. Things that conditioned us the way we are right now. Things that hold us back from doing what we really want and what we really love. That’s false human belief!

A lot of things play in mind. Until I made a decision to break the elephant rope.

Do you know what I did? I just let go of those false beliefs. I broke the “elephant rope “. I just took action. And that my friend is all you need to do. Maybe you want to apply for a higher position. Maybe you want to start a business. Maybe you want to start a new relationship. What is holding you back?
