Comprehension Passage

The key to a happy life is variety! This also applies to reading many genres! Readers become more at ease and self-assured as we expose them to other genres. Reading across genres improves comprehension in general. If the book is fiction, for instance, your mind will be preoccupied with the characters, setting, plot, and theme. If the book is nonfiction, your attention will be drawn to useful text characteristics and real-world information. If you read historical fiction, you are aware that the characters are fictional despite the fact that the events are true. One begins to comprehend that there will be components and situations in fiction that are not possible in real life.

Exposing readers to these distinctive features of each genre can help them comprehend and appreciate any book they choose. Different genres introduce readers to a variety of terminology, images, and visuals that will help them develop a wealth of background and context that they can use in subsequent reading, in addition to improving the essential skill of comprehension.
