"Good morning, sleepyhead," she said, ruffling Mia's hair.

Mia climbed onto her favorite stool at the counter, her toes barely touching the floor. She watched her mother flip a pancake with expert ease. "Mom, can I help?" Mia asked, eyes wide with eagerness. Her mother paused, considering the request. "Of course, sweetie. How about you stir the batter?" she replied, handing Mia a wooden spoon. Mia grasped it tightly, her eyes shining with excitement.

"Be careful, it's heavy," her mother warned, but she kept a close eye on Mia, ready to step in if needed. Mia stirred with all her might, her tongue peeking out of the corner of her mouth in concentration. Flour puffed into the air, and a few drops of batter splattered on the counter. Her mother chuckled softly. "You're doing great," she encouraged, and Mia's small face lit up with pride.
