India will host a virtual summit of more than 120 developing countries next week to share their economic woes in deliberations during its G-20 presidency this year. The two-day 'Voice of the Global South Summit' will take up key issues such as the worldwide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, decreasing access and affordability of food, fertilizer, and fuel, and mounting debt and inflationary pressures taking a toll on developing countries' economies. The 'Voice of the Global South Summit' will be held under the theme 'Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose'. The summit's goal is to bring countries from the Global South together to share their perspectives and priorities on a common platform on a variety of key issues and challenges. It will also discuss issues of climate change, climate finance, and climate technology, as well as rising food, fertilizer, and fuel prices and the increasing burden of debt and inflationary pressures. The summit will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the opening session, followed by brief speeches from leaders of the participating countries.
