Assertion (A): Post menopausal women are at three times the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases than premenopausal women.
Reason (R): Women in reproductive age including premenopausal women have female sex hormones specially estrogen which protects against cardiovascular diseases. Estrogen relaxes the arteries and promotes good cholesterol. Estrogen declines as the menopause approaches.
