The Harvard University Library Digitization Initiative outlines the following guidelines for digitizing images and text materials:

(A). Determine whether page images, full text, or both are needed to meet project requirements.

(B). Assess source materials and plan appropriate preparation, transfer, handling, and disposition procedures.

(C). Create archival versions of page images and/or full text for long-term storage and production of deliverables as needed.

(D). Create deliverables for distribution as page images and/or full text.
